Abstract
A transcript of an interview with Diederick Zanen by Leigh Swigart and David P. Briand. The interview took place on May 24,2015 in The Hague, Netherlands, and the transcript, which is represented here, has been reviewed and edited from the original audio version. During the interview, Zanen reminisces on impression of the Yugoslavian conflict while at university; first months working in the OTP and informality of the office; measures to secure documents and information; treatment of tribunal personnel from former Yugoslavia in early years; evolution and increase in supervisory responsibilities over translators and field interpreters; evolution of positions and titles within tribunal staff; Completion Strategy and plans for post-tribunal employment; need to visit former Yugoslavia to see country as more than conflict zone; experiences in Zagreb; changes in OTP office with changes in chief prosecutor, and emotional impact of working at ICTY during Kosovo crisis.
