Abstract
This chapter explores the art and science of effective teaching through a reflective case study on communicating the foundational yet often misunderstood concepts of price, value, and worth in property education. Drawing from over four decades of teaching experience, the author details the pedagogical principles that have shaped his success in the classroom and beyond - enthusiasm, preparation, performance, engagement, respect, and relevance. By structuring a participatory lecture that bridges everyday experiences with professional valuation practice, the chapter demonstrates how seemingly complex ideas can be made accessible and memorable. Central to this approach is the belief that good teaching involves uncovering knowledge that students already possess intuitively but have not yet articulated. Through humor, analogies, and real-world examples, the lecture not only demystifies valuation concepts but also empowers learners to apply them critically in practice. Ultimately, the chapter celebrates teaching as a performance, a craft, and a privilege.
