Abstract
Have you ever worked with students who seem interested in archival materials, but unsure as to how to apply these materials in their own research? This class plan, meant for both undergraduate and graduate students, introduces the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) and describes how the technique can be modified for archival instruction. The QFT was developed by Dan Rothstein and Luz Santana and helps students formulate questions, improve their questions, and select questions of greatest importance.1 Rothstein and Santana are codirectors of the Right Question Institute, which has many QFT teaching materials available on its website (http://rightquestion.org). We encourage anyone interested in the QFT to visit the site and read more about this teaching technique.
