Abstract
Parents of young children with disabilities embark on a lifelong process of advocating for environments supporting their child’s needs. However, a child’s success is often negatively influenced by environmental barriers at the family, community and policy levels. We will explore: 1) social ecological and health literacy frameworks; 2) new research; and, 3) critical thinking strategies to resolve environmental barriers to children’s participation. Attendees will also engage in the real-time development of an intervention.
