Abstract
Erlebnis is a 2-part piece for mezzo-soprano and chamber orchestra. Part I is for mezzo-soprano and a chamber orchestra of 13 players. The music of part I corresponds to the first stanza of Hugo von Hofmannsthal's poem Erlebnis. Part II is for a 7-player subset of the chamber orchestra without the mezzo-soprano, where the music depicts the second stanza of the poem.
