Abstract

composition music quintet contemporary music
Escapades of a Sandpiper is an imaginative journey of a day in the life of a Sandpiper. The specific sandpiper depicted in this piece is known as a Calidrid, a small bird which spends its day scurrying up and down the beach in search of aquatic crustaceans. Though there is no specific story line, the music paints a picture of the Sandpiper’s quick sprints along the coast and their sudden bursts of flight over the crashing waves of a Florida beach.
