Abstract
In this thesis I examine the narratives of American Jewish communities through the lens of narrative theory, exploring how these narratives contribute to the discourse around Jewish continuity, Israel, and antisemitism. Drawing on a basis in narrative theory I explore how these narratives shape the way American Jews understand and engage with their cultural heritage, relationship with Israel, and the increasing threat of antisemitism. Through a close analysis of these narratives, the thesis offers insights into the complex ways in which Jewish identity is approached as well as the challenges that arise in attempting to balance a sense of cultural continuity with the pressures of assimilation and the sense of impending crises.
