Abstract
Toni Morrison's term "discredited knowledge" is used to signify the perspective of Marlene Nourbese Philip's old wisened black woman reader as well as the political consciousness implied by its re-valuation by colonized subjects. Questions relating to intellectual and national identification in the anglophone Caribbean context are examined.
