Abstract

Diffusion
The assumptions which have been used to effect a closure of the heirarchy of distribution functions for fluids in which self‐diffusion is the only nonequilibrium process are outlined. We investigate the fundamental equation which has been derived under these assumptions and show that, in general, it has no solutions of physical interest. We suggest possible ways in which existing theories may be modified to yield physically significant results.
