Abstract

Indigenous Genetic Resources Alpacas Andes Region Globalization Indigenous Peoples
The booming Alpaca industry outside the Andes reflects the level of international protection for the collective rights Indigenous Peoples have on genetic resources they have domesticated and conserved, and that are critical for their physical and cultural survival. The process of indigenous globalization has permitted the separation of indigenous genetic resources from their natural habitats.
