The four erases itself in announcing that which remains hidden. [...]the mystery is that 3+1 does not equal four; a one-fold notion of three (a singular trinity) does not remain; and the final remainder of a one God (the monotheistic invention) confronts the possibility of its own erasure, i.e., an infinite entity that remains eternally absent is no longer eternally absent. Whether its difference as both the event of differentiation and that of deferral, delay, stretchedness (i.e., the non-origin of a singular origin that otherwise would be gathered into its unified presence), the simultaneity of such an impossibility of being the event of difference and delay of the event as a pure origin (arche), and the impossibility of such a simultaneity (of difference and delay), or the derivatives that have been traced in the Derridean archive ('trace, supplement, dissemination,' etc.) speak of a gift.
