Abstract
An essay is presented on the creation of the documentary drama "Year One of the Empire." It describes the authors' reasons of writing the drama, and explains why they chose to create documentary drama rather than a historical narrative. It cites the comments from Metropolitan actors and director Alex Roe on the roles they performed.
