Discusses both privileges granted to and restrictions placed on Jewish doctors in the Republic of Venice during the 14th-17th centuries. In 1670 an attempt was made, again, to prevent Jewish doctors from treating Christian patients. Pp. 495-506 present the text of a memorandum sent by the Jewish community to the Venetian government, which is now held in the Archivio di Stato di Venezia.
