Abstract

Waves Multilayer Reaction-Diffusion Systems chemical waves
We present here numerical simulations that qualitatively reproduce an experimental observation of the periodic emergence of sawtooth-shaped crossing chemical waves. Our results suggest that these large amplitude periodic variations of the shape of the wave fronts are a generic phenomenon. This type of interference is qualitatively different from the classical interference of linear waves, which results in amplitude variation but preserves the shape of the wave fronts.
