Mining: anthropological perspectives.

Annual review of anthropology. Vol. 14, pp.199-217
1985

Abstract

This review deals with mineral economics; contains a discussion of the demographic, social, and political characteristics of mining communities; and discusses mining rituals, beliefs, and ideology. Implicit in this tripartite division is a view of mining consisting of an economic base and a derivative sociopolitical and ideological superstructure.-from Author
