Golden uses a review of three biographies of Mayan scholars - "Alfred Maudsley and the Maya: A Biography" by Ian Graham (University of Oklahoma Press, 2002), "Tatiana Proskouriakoff: Interpreting the Ancient Maya" by Char Solomon (University of Oklahoma press, 2002) and "Heart of Creation: The Mesoamerican World and the Legacy of Linda Schele" edited by Andrea Stone (University of Alabama press, 2002) to discuss the role of the three subjects in Mayan studies.
