Abstract
There is a growing need for capable leaders to replace incumbents in critical positions in cases of resignation, retirement, promotions, death, growth, expansion, and creation of new positions. Developing an effective succession planning process can guide organizations to evaluate their present situation and decide the critical employees who will ultimately step into leadership and senior management positions. This paper discusses succession planning within a Magnet® health care organization and knowledge management of its human resources and human capital.
