Abstract
A key music-theory text within the Ars nova complex, and one that has received scant attention thus far, is the Omni desideranti notitiam treatise, which is extant in three manuscripts of Italian provenance dating from the 14th and 15th centuries. The author analyzes the place and significance of this text within the Ars nova tradition, using this treatise to explore relationships between the texts. She then considers some of the issues arising from the editing process. The two key aims of the study are re-stated: 1) a reconsideraton of the importance of the Omni desideranti notitiam text within the early Ars nova; and 2) a discussion of the advantages of presenting online editions of music theory texts.
