Abstract

The Faraday effect for sodium dissolved in EDA indicates a magentic moment of about one Bohr magneton for the excited state involved in the 650 nm absorption. Comparison with results for iodide ion suggest a structure for the 650 nm band. A simple connection between ellipticity and derivative of absorption is pointed out and used in analyzing the data.
