Abstract
Brandeis's admirers have likened him to the great Biblical figures since well before his death. Though distant from Judaism for most of his life, he brought his exemplary moral and spiritual values to Zionism when it most needed such direction. One reason for his enduring popularity was his ability to blend Hebrais, Hellenic, and American ideals and virtues in such a way that even Christians idealized him.
