Abstract
Oleanna, David Mamet's new play, examines sexual harassment and the struggle for domination between male and female at the same time exploring language as a means of misunderstanding. The play deals with a male professor who is accused by a female student of sexual harassment and, through Mamet's surreal dialogue, they get entangled in ambiguity. The play also reveals the power play between the sexes caused by mistrust and primal fears. Furthermore, Mamet explores the contemporary university's dependence on language and its susceptibility to linguistic instabilities.
