Abstract
The shapes of optical absorption spectra of solvated electrons in liquids ammonia and perdeuterioammonia are shown to be the same within experimental error under nearly the same conditions, in the same solvent whether
these spectra are obtained from spectra of metal solutions or from pulse radiolysis experiments. In addition, solvated electron absorption bands in each solvent at different temperatures display shape stability. As a result, most, if not all, of these absorption bands would appear to result from bound to continuum transitions.
