Abstract
The reaction between arsenite and iodate in acidic solution offers an excellent pedagogic introduction to such phenomena as traveling waves. Component reactions, traveling waves, and a mathematical model are discussed. Demonstrations described can easily be elaborated into a full laboratory experiment.
