Abstract
Composer Erin Gee made her American Composers Orchestra debut with the world premiere of "Mouthpiece XIII: Mathilde of Loci, Part 1," a work she created with her brother, Colin Gee. "Mouthpiece XIII" is based on a fictionalized account of the life of Matteo Ricci, proponent of the Memory Palace or the Method of Loci, a mnemonic technique. "Mouthpiece XIII" is a composition for electronically processed voice, actor, and orchestra. This piece was performed at American Composers Orchestra's "Composers OutFront!" at the Whitney Museum of Art on Friday, October 30, 2009 and at ACO's Orchestra Underground: Traditions & Transmigrations concert on Friday, November 30, 2009 at Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall.
