Abstract
The first of a two-concert series called Soundscape America, JACK showcases works by maverick American composers who have redefined what a string quartet can be. The program features Erin Gee’s shimmering Mouthpiece XXII, Mark Applebaum’s whimsical Darmstadt Kindergarten, Elliott Carter’s groundbreaking String Quartet No. 2, Anthony Braxton's Composition 173, Morton Feldman’s Structures, and Cenk Ergün’s explosive Sonare, commissioned by Chamber Music America in 2016.
