Abstract
"This piece is the most important piece in the 2009 concert. Thanks to the members of the Taipei Percussion Orchestra: Yang Yaru and Liao Yuxuan for their assistance in the performance, this piece was written for the 25th anniversary of the troupe, and the performance is even more perfect." -- Zhang Yuhui/Tian Deng
"When I was commissioned by the Tang Lu Flute Ensemble to compose a new piece for its 25th anniversary concert, the thought of praying for blessings immediately came to my mind. For such a unique orchestra to continue to grow and innovate after more than 20 years, it is not only a simple achievement, but it is also a matter of gratitude and touching for all its supporters. This song named Sky Lantern was completed in such a mood. The whole song is composed of two Andantes and two Allegro interspersed. The former presents a solemn, ceremonial, yet warm emotional passage with a steady but smooth speed and a texture inspired by the counterpoint technique of different sounds in traditional music. The allegro part is full of rhythm. It embodies the music as a visible, rising sky lantern. It also abstractly expresses the impatient excitement and high expectations for the future." -- Yu-Hui Chang
