Abstract
The America's Energy Summit in New Orleans was focused on fossil fuel instead of renewable energy, which was a disappointing development. The Biden administration has paused the approval of a large LNG terminal in the US, which is seen as a success for the climate movement. However, the US is still heavily involved in fossil fuel infrastructure. The fossil fuel industry continues to spread doubt and disinformation despite the known climate risks. The Biden administration's decision to pause the expansion is a win for the climate movement, but a total cancellation of fossil fuel build-out is needed. The German government has successfully reduced Russian imports and accelerated its coal exit. German banks are heavily invested in US LNG export terminals. Biden's administration aims to focus on China and reduce involvement in the Middle East.
