Abstract
For our second Israel Studies event of the semester, Prof. Abigal Jacobson and Prof. Erica Weiss spoke on ethno-national tensions and the limits of “pluralism” in Palestinian-Israeli “mixed cities” post-1948. Dr. Jacobson presented on “Trapped Neighborhoods, Trapped Identities: Mizrahi Jews and Palestinian Arabs in the ‘Mixed City’,” and Dr. Weiss gave a talk entitled “In the Shadow of the State: Lived Pluralism in Ramla.” These talks were followed by a response from discussant Dr. Yuval Evri and a panel discussion with the audience.
