Abstract
This report summarizes the proceedings of two judicial colloquia that brought together domestic judges from West African countries with judges sitting on the benches of international courts and tribunals. The first colloquium was held in Dakar, Senegal in January 2006 for French-speaking judges. The second was held in Accra, Ghana in October 2007 for English-speaking judges. These events responded to the observation, often made by actors in the international legal world, that national judges play a critical role in firmly establishing international law across the globe.
