Abstract
BIIJ 2012 aimed to explore what international judges and their institutions – in conjunction with national and regional counterparts – can and should do in the effort to promote the rule of law around the world. Plenary discussions centered on the following themes: 1) Issues of Concurrent Jurisdiction; 2) The Impact of Different Frameworks on Judicial Decision-Making 3) International Courts in the World of Power Politics: Facing the Critics; 4) The Appropriate Role of International Courts and Tribunals in Enhancing Global Justice; 5) Making a Place for Indigenous Rights in Global Justice
