Abstract
Fashioning Israel: Modernity, Dress, and Identity in a Global Context examines how
individuals and groups in Israel and those who claim an association with Israel
globally express their identity/identities through appearance, how and when those
appearances are negotiated and balanced in social and personal environments,
how global fashion intersects with traditional Israeli and associated cultural
philosophies and practices, and if and how traditional practices are being
maintained, shared, and adapted for the 21st century consumers including those
practicing messianic‐based faith systems and non‐believers.
