Abstract
This course will give 8 lectures on 8 topics presented by the mostly representative Israeli Hebrew authors since the founding of the State of Israel in 1948. The course seeks to demonstrate the close linkage between Israeli literature and pivotal social, political, and cultural issues. Through teaching, reading and analyzing the Hebrew literary texts and its Israel contexts, it will help the students to improve their reading ability of Hebrew literature and to get better understanding of contemporary Israel society.
In view of the fact that there are no courses taught in Modern Hebrew and Israeli Literature in any other Universities in China, this course will give an online link to some junior teachers in Hebrew and Foreign Literature to other universities. Students are required to read the literary texts at home and come to the class with their questions.
Some of the students in this class are good at Hebrew or Arabic, or both; some of them only work with English. The literary texts will be read either in Chinese translation or in English.
