Abstract
The Land of Israel occupies differing places in Jewish and Christian imaginations. This course will offer a historical, theological, and political investigation into these differing conceptions. By developing capacities for comparative understandings, students will investigate how these differing views represent points of conflict and where mutual illumination might be possible.

After completion of this course, students will be able to
1. Identify historical developments in the thinking about the Land of Israel in Jewish and Christian perspectives.
2. Articulate the significance of Zionism as a movement in Jewish life and thought
3. Synthesize contrasting views of the Land of Israel in order to develop comparative insights in social, political, and theological modes.
