Abstract
It deals with the creation of the State of Israel, the contemporary Israeli political instutitons and parties and finally with the Israeli society which is bedeviled by various cleavages: the differences between Jews and Arabs, Ashkenazim and Mizrahim, secular and orthodox, as well as class and gender. Eventually, the course offers an introductory survey of Israeli state and society.
