Abstract
Israel History is a course for undergraduates and graduates study, telling the history of Zionism and Israel State from its rise to the present day. Through the explanation and study of the history of Israel, students will understand the process of Israel historical development, the socio-political and economic conditions, major historical events and ideological and cultural aspects of the various historical periods experienced during this period, including the rise of Zionism, the establishment of Isael State, immigrants and settlements, national construction and democratic development, Arab-Jewish conflicts and Middle East peace process, complex ethnic and religious issues, the rise of the Likud and political turmoil in Israel, historical development and current status of Sino-Israeli Relations, and so on.
China and Israel are at the east and west ends of the Asian continent, and the historical and cultural exchanges between the two peoples have a long history. Strengthening the study of Israel history, will help us to understand Israel political system and its changes, economic development and the problems encountered therein, grasp the evolution of social thoughts and culture in various periods, and is important for us to understand middle east situation and its new changes, as well as promoting the mutual cognition between China and Israel.
This course adopts the teaching method of combining face-to-face teaching and student discussion. In face-to-face teaching, it is necessary to combine systematic teaching with focused teaching, and strive to deepen students’ understanding of the contents learned through visualization, and cultivate the habit of discovering, analyzing, and solving problems through class discussion, so as to improve students’ ability of self-exploration to Israel and middle east issues.
