Abstract
During the course the history of Israel and its impact on the main social issues and contemporary Israeli culture will be discussed.
The course acquaints the students with the history of The State of Israel and its most important social and political issues as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the internal problems of the state (new immigrants, the military, the place of religion in social and political life, attitudes to the peace process in the Middle East, etc.). Major issues will be supported by studying the texts of culture: Israeli movies, music, literature, extracts from newspapers.
