Department of Political Science. It adopts an interdisciplinary approach, enabling students from
various academic backgrounds to acquire knowledge and apply it in their future studies. Using
Israel's unique regional context, the course introduces fundamental theoretical frameworks and
concepts.
Students will gain insight into the tension between Israel's Jewish character and its democratic
nature, as well as into the diverse aspects of Israeli society, including ethnicity, class, nationality,
migration, and religion. These elements play a dynamic role in shaping the complex political
system. The course also provides a chronological overview of Israel's geopolitical history and the
Arab-Israeli conflict, alongside an analysis of the principles guiding Israel's political system and
the societal differences that significantly influence political trends and policies.
