Abstract
This course offers an introduction to the current Palestine Israel crisis. We will explore the origins of the ongoing conflict, its development, and its impacts on Palestinians, Israelis, the Middle East, and the world more broadly. While our focus will be primarily historical, we will also look at the role of religion, Islamophobia, antisemitism, and orientalism in understanding the conflict. Some crucial periods and events we will study include: the late Ottoman Period, the British Mandate period, the Holocaust, the Nakba, and events post-1947 that have contributed to exacerbating the conflict.
