Abstract
Students will critically examine the development of dance in Israel, from the origins of folk traditions to the vibrant contemporary scene. The course explores history of Israel, Zionism, cultural evolution, and the presence of art and art making, highlighting how Israeli dance reflects, shapes, and contributes to the nation’s identity. Through lectures, screenings, discussions, and research, students will analyze major companies, choreographers, and stylistic trends, as well as the global impact of Israeli dance.
