Abstract
This course introduces students to the global diversity of cinema through the study of four national traditions: Israeli, French, Indian, and Japanese cinema. We will examine how different historical, cultural, and political contexts shape film production and reception. In addition to formal and stylistic analysis, the course explores themes such as national identity, gender, diaspora, and transnationalism. Students will engage with scholarly readings, participate in discussions, and analyze a diverse selection of films.
