In "Forbidden Christmas or The Doctor and the Patient," written and directed by Rezo Gabriadze, evocative theatrical images are torpedoed by overly literal dialogue and flat line deliveries. The Lincoln Center Festival offering at John Jay College Theater is notable mainly for the star appearance of Mikhail Baryshnikov. Gabriadze's scenic design, sound collage, and costume design give the eye and ear more pleasure than the dialogue as translated by Ryan McKittrick and Julia Smeliansky. Jennifer Tipton's lighting is imaginative.
