Abstract
Although there are significant amounts of research focusing on possible economic and social effects of uncertainty caused by the Brexit referendum - held in 2016, the specific effect of Brexit on UK-EU trade at the industry level has not yet been fully researched. This study aims to test the effect of Brexit on export and import volumes between the UK and the EU at the industry level using the difference-in-difference method. Research results indicate that despite the continuing growth in export and import volumes between the UK and the EU post-Brexit, industries in the UK which face a higher uncertainty about trade barriers and have a higher dependency on trade with the EU experience slower growth in trade.
