Abstract
Research in the Krauss lab has led to the development of methods to synthesize bishomoallyl alcohols enantio- and diastereoselectively. Investigations into the alcohol directed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides with bishomoallyl alcohols were launched. Screening of reaction conditions with and without metal Lewis acids led to the focus on a biphasic reaction condition with saturated aqueous Rochelle salt. The biphasic conditions studied were found to be non-diastereoselective. Efforts in screening metal Lewis acids will be continued.
