Abstract
CCMS is delighted to present "Concert and Conversation," with composer and pianist Yehudi Wyner, CCMS Director and violinist Wendy Putnam, and GBH Producer Brian McCreath. "Concert and Conversation" was created in collaboration with GBH, and was filmed in the Fraser Performance Studio at GBH in Boston in September, 2020.
-- Segment I features two works for solo piano composed and performed by Yehudi Wyner, Piccola Fantasia Davenniana and Four Times Twenty, along with some contextual conversation about the genesis and emergence of these works
-- Segment II features a performance of Andante con espression by Florence Price. The lyrical Andante con Espressione for Violin and Piano by the African-American composer Florence Price was written during the early part of the 20th Century, and must undoubtedly find its place among the beloved and familiar works in the violin and piano repertoire. A gifted pianist, organist and music teacher, Price was the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer and have a composition performed by a major orchestra.
-- The Segment III Premiere will be followed by a YouTube Live session in which Wendy will offer background commentary and the opportunity
for Q & A.
