Scholarship and Biography

Background:

Julia Sauve is a graduate of Boston College and Boston College Law School. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she worked in child advocacy abroad and founded an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico, as well as an associated 510(c)(3) non-profit. She further worked with orphanages and non-profits in Vietnam and Tanzania. She began her legal career as a paralegal in the fields of personal injury law and family law.


Julia Sauve was the recipient of the Rappaport Fellowship in Law and Public Policy as well as the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Fellowship. She worked at the Office of the Attorney General, Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS), and specialized in commercial litigation in a corporate law setting.


Julia has taught Environmental Law and Policy at both Boston College and Brandeis University. Through the Brandeis Educational Justice Initiative (BEJI) she taught an Introduction to Mindfulness course at the Suffolk County House of Corrections. Julia was a Joshua A. Guberman Fellow in the Legal Studies Program in 2023.


Her areas of professional interest include environmental law, child advocacy, criminal law and justice, and restorative justice.


Teaching Philosophy:

"My teaching philosophy revolves around empowering students with both theoretical legal knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in legal environments and navigating legal content effectively. I strive to provide students with an in-depth comprehension of the social implications of environmental law. Central to my approach is fostering a sense of responsibility for our environment and advocating for justice through legal practice. Through engaging discussions and practical applications, I aim to inspire in students a passion for effecting positive change towards a more equitable and sustainable future."
