Scholarship and Biography
Katrin Fischer specializes in science and nature writing, business writing, and interdisciplinary pedagogies. Her research and teaching focus on the intersections between the sciences, business, and the liberal arts, on the transferability of writing skills across disciplines and contexts, and on interdisciplinary approaches to learning and teaching.
Dr. Fischer holds a PhD from the University of Paderborn, Germany, and an MBA from Babson College. She has published books and articles on a wide range of interdisciplinary topics, from the representation of indigenous cultures in contemporary crime fiction to the pedagogy of teaching to marketing.
Prior to Brandeis, she taught at the universities of Chemnitz and Dresden, and at Bentley University and Babson College. She has developed and taught courses in writing, literature, cultural history, environmental studies, and entrepreneurship. In addition to her academic work, she gained corporate experience as the Director of Marketing for the US subsidiary of a German company.
