Scholarship and Biography
Lucía Reyes de Deu is an Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies at Brandeis University, where she teaches all levels of Spanish language, and courses on Latin American literature and culture.
Her teaching philosophy draws upon extensive research in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and her substantial experience in language, literature, and culture instruction. She employs a communicative, proficiency-based, and task-oriented approach to all her classes. With a keen interest in curriculum design, she strives to enrich her students’ experiences by bringing her research into the classroom. Her content-based courses underscore her commitment to fully integrating language and subject matter in both instruction and assessment.
The transnational and bilingual scope of Prof. Reyes de Deu’s research enables her to engage in a dynamic and continuous dialogue with scholars worldwide, particularly in Latin America and the Southern Cone (Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile). She regularly participates in international conferences and seminars, presenting on topics related to gender studies and Latin American literature.
