Scholarship and Biography
Meelee L. Kim, PhD’19, is a Research Scientist at the Institute for Behavioral Health, Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University. She has 18 years of experience using mixed methods to conduct research and program evaluation. Her research interests focus on policies and programs aimed to prevent and address substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, trauma, and other behavioral health issues. She applies a participatory action framework when working with community-based organizations and other community stakeholders.
She currently serves as Principal Investigator to projects aimed to prevent and address behavioral health issues among people who are often marginalized (racial/ethnic minority youth, people who are homeless, LGBTQ+, families living in poverty). She also conducts research using Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs, law enforcement, and public health data sources to evaluate public health initiatives intended to promote healthier communities.
