Scholarship and Biography

Rachel Kramer Theodorou has been a classroom elementary and ESL teacher, an instructional coach, and college professor for more than 20 years. Alongside her practical work, Rachel consults with Waltham Public Schools, Waltham Family School, and other PK-Adult ESOL programs in and around Waltham, MA. She leads the MATSOL Teacher Education special interest group and advisor to MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for small teacher preparation programs in Massachusetts. Her interests are focused on the following areas: culturally and linguistically sustaining elementary education and SEI, environmental formal and informal education, civics and climate education for PK-5, and critical approaches to teaching history and social studies in elementary schools.
