Shaw Lupton is Faculty Lead of the Brandeis Global Real Estate Council and an adjunct professor at the Brandeis School of Business and Economics. He brings more than two decades of experience across commercial real estate investment, data and analytics, proptech, strategy, and education.

As Head of Strategic Advisory at CompStak, Shaw helps real estate organizations use market intelligence and emerging technology to make better investment and operating decisions. He is also the founder of Property Insight Solutions & Advisory and a member of the Bain Advisory Network. Previously, he was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company, advising senior leaders across real estate, private equity, financial services, hospitality, and retail on growth strategy, new business building, analytics, and investment diligence.

Earlier in his career, Shaw spent 14 years at CoStar Group, ultimately serving as Director of Product Management for Analytics. He led the analytics roadmap for a major real estate technology platform and advised institutional investors representing more than $1 trillion in commercial real estate capital on portfolio allocation, diligence, and fundraising. He began his career evaluating investments and supporting capital markets activities at Boston Properties and Westport Point Capital, a joint venture with Prudential Real Estate Investors.

Shaw’s relationship with Brandeis spans more than 20 years, first as a student and now as an alumnus and educator. He earned his BA in Economics, MA in International Economics and Finance, and MBA from Brandeis. As a research assistant to Ed Bayone, he helped develop graduate courses in commercial real estate before returning to the university as an adjunct professor. He has taught more than 200 MBA students in real estate market analysis, investment strategy, and valuation, and now also teaches business strategy and structured problem-solving under uncertainty, helping students apply critical thinking and clear communication to complex, real-world challenges.

As Faculty Lead, Shaw advances Brandeis’s broader effort to connect rigorous academic learning with real-world application. He brings together investors, operators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and other industry leaders to create opportunities for students and alumni to exchange practical insight, develop durable skills, and engage with the forces reshaping real estate. His focus is on building a global forum for mentorship, rigorous discussion, and collaboration across the university and the industry.
